Pokémon Worlds 2024 wrapped up on Sunday, August 18th, with a series of announcements made in Honolulu, Hawaii. As well as plans for next year’s championship competition, The Pokémon Company took the time to talk mobile games with updates to Go, Unite, and the upcoming Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket.

The newest mobile entry was revealed this February as a collaborative project between The Pokémon Company, Creatures Inc and DeNA, and six months later it finally has a release date – October 30th, 2024.

Pre-registrations are now available too, giving Android and iOS owners more than two months to brace themselves for this TCG-turned-digital.

Beyond the borders

When Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket was announced earlier in the year, it was confirmed that every player would receive two free packs of cards per day, encouraging fans to log in regularly whether they’re hardcore competitive players or simply enjoy Pokémon for the artwork.

To stand apart from the classic trading card game beyond just the digital medium, Pocket will also feature special Immersive Cards that go beyond the confines of rectangular borders, leaping into full illustrations and exploring brand-new sceneries.

“In this game, you will be able to open two booster packs every day at no cost. You can collect digital cards featuring nostalgic artwork from the past as well as brand-new cards that are exclusive to Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket,” The Pokémon Company said.

“An all-new way to TCG drops October 30, 2024. Preregister now on iOS and Android devices,” the company added on Twitter.

Players will be able to battle with the cards they collect too, incentivising purchases beyond the two free daily hauls for more chances at the best deck possible. With over 50 billion physical card sales to date, the idea to go digital saw shares in DeNA surge by 24.4% in a single day.
